Curators of Cuba: The See Here and French Art Shop

Filmed conversation series with galleries and artists that help make Cuba Street in Te Aro Wellington, dynamic.

Suzanne Tamaki talks to artists Pam Brabants, Vivien Atkinson and Becky Bliss about one of Wellington’s most unique art spaces, The See Here.

The See Here is a white rectangular box, for exhibitions viewable from the street. This conversation was filmed in its former location at the French Art Shop, 70 Ghuznee Street. Made up of a collective of Wellington based artists, The See Here is dedicated to producing work that engages with its physical parameters as a window gallery. The work here is called Play Fair by Becky Bliss.

Kaori Homma's Meridian Stone Project

With the Meridian Stone Project, Japanese-born, London-based artist Kaori Homma investigates our understanding of place and history - both personal and social - and the instances in which the two intersect.

Homma's project is an ongoing collaborative work: a stone taken from Street Road, and carved with the longitudinal coordinates 0º0’0’’ is mailed from artist to artist.

Homma sends the stone with these instructions to participants:
The Prime Meridian is set in Greenwich, in the United Kingdom, and indicates where the West begins and the East ends. You are given this transportable version. Place it at a meaningful point.
What are you thinking about?
